Review of Hilton La Jolla Torrey Pines California

We had the opportunity to stay at the Hilton La Jolla Torrey Pines for the 2018 Navy SEAL Foundation Impact Forum.

Entrance to the Hilton La Jolla Torrey Pines

This is a special place for any conference or a weekend getaway for peace and quiet or an active vacation. Of course everyone has heard of Torrey Pines Golf course and it's no surprise to encounter the resort feeling from the minute you hit the door. The golf course is sprawling between the resort and the ocean. Every room has a view of the golf course and therefore ocean, but nothing will be ocean front.

Torrey Pines State Reserve is abutting the property and allows for great opportunities to run, walk, hike or visit the beach. Cyclists abound and the hotel has bike rentals available but at $11 per hour for a beach cruiser, I recommend alternative rental companies or bringing your own. There is no beach front riding close by and the area is rather hilly. A beach cruiser would not be optimal in our opinion. There are companies nearby that rent ebikes.

Of course if you are a golfer, what an opportunity! If you play tennis, the property has tennis courts.

Breakfast is included for Hilton Honors Gold (a good continental breakfast) or Diamond (full breakfast) members. Dining is available onsite, was good quality but is rather pricey. If you have a vehicle, La Jolla is nearby or walk next door to the lodge at Torrey Pines for moderate or fine dining.

The pools is lovely with a jacuzzi, and plenty of lounge chairs, tables and umbrellas, but the towels were not great quality.

There is a large pool with a view of the Golf Course

The gym is adequate on site.

Hotel guests can utilize the Shiley Sports and Health Center at Scripps Clinic adjacent to the hotel, which is a larger fitness center including classes and a lap pool. A daily admission fee applies, but for us this was included due to the conference.
